Cotecna India conducted a thorough post-shipment survey for a consignment of South African oranges.
Cotecna India has successfully completed a comprehensive post-shipment cargo condition survey for a consignment of fresh oranges imported from South Africa. The inspection was carried out at a cold storage facility in Mumbai, where Cotecna’s expert surveyors conducted a meticulous quality assessment during the de-stuffing operation.
The survey involved random sampling of cartons from various pallets and container zones to ensure representative analysis. Key parameters evaluated included:
- Cargo carton weight
- Pulp/flesh integrity and juice vesicle condition
- Peel quality and core structure
- Temperature of internal pulp
- Presence of defects such as black spots, blemishes, soft ripe areas, mechanical injuries, russet marks, shrinkage, and press marks
- Structural distortion of internal tissues upon cutting

These findings play a vital role in validating cargo condition upon arrival and serve as critical documentation for exporters and importers seeking quality claim recovery against shipping lines or logistics handlers.
“Our goal is to empower clients with transparent, evidence-based reporting that protects their cargo interests and supports rightful compensation claims,” says Cotecna India Agri Team.
